Meeting Yve-Car Momperousse, owner of Kreyol Essence and Haitian activist, is definitely something worth blogging about! It was so great getting to know the wonderful woman behind the natural and eco-friendly brand. Who would've thought you'd be able to have organic "lwil maskriti" (black castor oil) internationally delivered to your door step? Some even infused with yummy essential oils like Chocolate, Lavender-Hibiscus and Rosemary Peppermint. Mango-Papaya is their new flavour! Witnessing a Haitian skincare brand striving on the market is definitely admirable and was a must try for me.
Growing up in a caribbean household, black castor oil played a major role in skincare, haircare and healing. It was and still is a rare, incomparable and miraculous oil. Naturally, black castor oil has a particular smell that makes you not want leave your house so I must say I’ve been very impressed with how Kreyol Essence delivered smells and textures.
As you may or may not know, I'm EXTREMELY picky when it comes to skincare due to my very sensitive skin. I couldn't wait to share my thoughts on these goodies with you all
I first tried the Haitian black castor oil. I was pleasantly surprised by the smell. The Lavender-Hibiscus essential oil infusion had me hooked. It provides moisture while keeping your skin baby soft. It's also fantastic for hair growth. The oil is as thick as it should be and I love that it comes with a pump so it's less messy and easy to apply on the skin and hair.
Up next, is the French lavender hand and body cream with Haitian black Castor oil, guava, aloe leaf juice and pure lavender essential oil. It's soothing, very moisturizing and softening without leaving your skin greasy. The smell is light but very unique. It also comes in cafe au lait (cafe con leche), mango papaya and coconut rum punch also Haitian vetiver.

I then tried the Haitian Moringa facial cleanser. The smell and the texture is light which I highly enjoyed. It was gentle on my skin for a deep and clarifying cleanser. I like that it can be used on any skin type. Also, due to the fact that Moringa is loaded with antioxidants, it helps improve minor imperfections such as acne or dark spots.
Finally, the Haitian Moringa nourishing face and body oil. Kreyol Essence calls it the "natural botox" (I'll let you beauties know when I finish the bottle lol) As of now, I can say it's extremely moisturizing, nutritious, much lighter than the black castor oil in texture, has a very light smell and can be used on the hair. I highly suggest to avoid using it on your face if you have oily skin.
If you're looking for skin or hair moisture, these are definitely the products for you. I'm currently loving the Haitian black castor oil the most and looking forward to trying more products from them. I was so glad to be able to have a real Haitian skincare experience with Kreyol Essence.
